My two main lenses for video work are the 8-25 and 12-100. Of course it depends on my subject matter. I typically don't use the 7-14 for my video work. However, it is more than capable.

Great video. I’ve been lucky enough to get one of these for free via work. I currently have an OM-D camera. Quick question …. did you capture these photos in auto mode? Looking at the image ‘info’ I guess so. Thanks.

Thank you and good question. I typically shoot in Program mode and Aperture priority mode. I rarely use Program mode. The reason being's I like to exposure bracket and you can't do this in Auto.

Why be excited about this camera ? It is not new. It is a copy of the OMD EM5 Mk 3 - with a few so called 'goodies' under the hood, that's all. No charger - same sensor, same EVF - same plastic body, same control lay out, same rear screen. Same pathetic battery. I wont go on. OM System getting rid of old stock ? ? To prove my point. For those who purchase this camera, in about a years time from purchase date, buy a tube of Supa glue, that's the time the rubber thumb rest on the rear of the body, starts to peel off. 😢

Hello Mr. Frank, your review is very nice and its super informative. What I wanted to saw, is more nature and mountains photos. I have seen many reviews of OM5 but no one has given mountains photoshoot reviews like you. The reason is, I am looking for a lightweight and compact camera to use on high altitude expeditions in the Himalayas and I am expecting to get good quality photos of other mountains from the top of the summit. And I think the OM5 is the only camera that works in snow and rain. which camera would you recommend? is the OM5 a best option? I'll be very grateful if you guide me. Thank you.

I've read a lot of reviews on this lens. Without exception, the "Olympus visionaries" sing the praises of this lens. It must be perfect. Everybody else, however, complains of terrible chromatic aberration in high contrast areas, bad enough that software won't remove it. Any comments on the purple fringing? Since you're primarily an outdoor photographer, you must have run into high contrast situations. I also note that you mention using this lens with focus bracketing. It's a shame that it doesn't work with focus stacking, since it is designated a "pro" lens. It has been on the market now for a couple of years, so I don't expect a firmware update to address this. It must be an issue with the focus motor. Any thoughts on this?
